Two bombs went off near a petrol station in Baghdad's western Mansour district on Thursday, killing at least 13 people and injuring 25, police said. According to Reuters, the first explosion was a roadside bomb that hit people lining up for fuel at the petrol station, they said. When police arrived on the scene to help, a car bomb exploded.
There has been a relative lull in major attacks and violence over the Eid al-Adha holiday, which ended on Wednesday.
However, U.S. Major General William Caldwell warned on Wednesday that American and Iraqi forces were braced for a possible violent backlash after Saddam Hussein was hanged on Saturday.
Meanwhile, four Americans and an Austrian abducted in November in southern Iraq spoke briefly and appeared in a video believed to have been recorded nearly two weeks ago. The men - security contractors for the Crescent Security Group based in Kuwait - appeared separately on the edited video, that was delivered to the AP Wednesday.
Three of them said they were being treated well. They were kidnapped Nov. 16 on a highway near the southern border city of Safwan.
