The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is the world's largest professional marketing body, based in the United Kingdom and has 50,000 members in 130 countries.  CIM aims to define the marketing standards that operate in the UK and to champion best practice globally, developing the marketing profession and maintaining professional standards, whilst improving the skills of marketing practitioners and enabling them to deliver exceptional results for their organisations.  CIM provides membership, qualifications and training to marketing professionals around the world.

knet offers the CIM Professional Certificate and the Professional Diploma in Marketing qualifications with both courses starting in early August.  Accredited CIM Sales courses will be launched in January 2006.

The Professional Certificate is aimed at individuals working in junior marketing or sales positions who aspire to a career in marketing.  Consisting of four modules: Marketing Environment, Marketing in Practice, Customer Communications and Marketing Fundamentals, the Professional Certificate allows students to gain an understanding of the role of marketing in business, how to utilise marketing research to improve customer communications, recognise the importance of collecting relevant data, and to distinguish between the types of organisation within the public, private and voluntary sectors.

The Professional Diploma is aimed at individuals looking to build practical skills in operational marketing management and to broaden their strategic perspective, as well as those who are looking to build on knowledge gained at Certificate level with a future marketing management role in mind.  The programme comprises four modules: Marketing Research and Information, Marketing Planning, Marketing Communications and Marketing Management in Practice.

This higher level qualification is ideal for marketers who are concerned with managing the marketing process at an operational level, as well as those who are looking to build on the knowledge gained at Professional Certificate level with a future marketing management role in mind.  The content of the CIM courses have been put together following consultation with employers to ensure that students gain relevant competencies for various stages of their marketing careers.
