ALBAWABA - Media reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to land in the French capital, Paris, today to meet French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Monday.

The visit came following US President Donald Trump's announcement that he is optimistic about reaching an agreement to end the long war between Kyiv and Moscow, which started in February 2022.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot told the La Tribune Dimanche newspaper on Sunday that the Monday meeting is "to move the negotiations forward".

"Peace is within reach, if (Russian President) Vladimir Putin abandons his delusional hope of reconstituting the Soviet empire by first subjugating Ukraine," Barrot mentioned.

It is worth mentioning that American and Ukrainian negotiators held talks in Florida on Sunday. Following the meeting, both sides said that the discussions were "positive".

The Ukrainian president is expected to land in Paris at about 10:00 a.m. Paris time (0900 GMT).

The BBC reported that after Zelensky's visit to Paris, he will head to Dublin to meet Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin on Tuesday.
