Iran and Egypt are moving towards warmer relations, and even their stances on the recent events in US are very similar to each other, said Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi on Thursday.
Kharrazi’s remarks came during a meeting with the outgoing head of the Egyptian Interests Section in Tehran, Muhammad Al Refaah Tantawi, at the end of his tenur, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).
At the meeting, Kharrazi lauded Tantawi's efforts to raise the level of bilateral ties and said that in the past years, both countries had witnessed very promising developments in their mutual relations.
Tantawi, for his part, referred to the identical stance adopted by Iran and Egypt in dealing with recent global developments and called Iran and Egypt two important countries in the world.
He also expressed hope that the two sides would play a more active role in the interests of Islam, said IRNA – Albawaba.com
