The Jordanian-Egyptian committee for encouraging investment opens its first meeting in Amman on Sunday to review joint investment opportunities between the two countries, reported the official Petra news agency.
Director of Jordan’s Investment Promotion Corporation (IPC), Reem Badran, who heads the Jordanian side to the committee, said the committee will discuss investment opportunities in the information technology sector and pharmaceutical industries in Jordan which the Egyptian side is interested in.
In light of the outcome of the meeting, IPC will soon organize a meeting bringing together businessmen and investors from the two countries to explore areas in specific sectors that have competitive edge for the two countries, Badran told the agency.
Egyptian investment in Jordan reached a total of $168 million during 1996-2000, whereas Jordanian investment in Egypt stood at $128 million during the same period – Albawaba.com
