Jordan’s FM Receives Message from Russian Counterpart on Middle East Conflict

Jordanian Foreign Minister Abdel Ilah Al Khatib on Saturday received a message from his Russian counterpart, Igor Ivanov, dealing with recent developments in the Palestinian territories, reported the official Jordanian news agency, Petra. 

The message was delivered by Russian special envoy for Middle East affairs, Andrea Vadoven, said Jordan's official news agency, Petra. 

Khatib underlined the necessity to pursue all efforts to put end the Palestinian people's suffering, and to fully implement recommendations of the Mitchell report.  

Russian dispatched Vavoden to the region last week in a bid to help implement a ceasefire declared by the Palestinians and Israeli to halt the bloodletting in the Palestinian territories.  

Vavoden held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Foreign Minister Shimon Peres. He also met with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat – Albawaba.com
