Japan made a grant to Jordan Wednesday of 2.5 billion yen (around 23.66 million dollars) in economic and social development aid, the Japanese embassy said in a statement.
"The deposited funds from procurement activities under non-project grant shall be utilized for economic and social development purposes, particularly for the projects closely related to Japanese cooperation to support industrial development in Jordan," the statement said.
The grant is part of a 400-million-dollar economic assistance package for Jordan pledged by Japan to King Abdullah II during the monarch's trip to Tokyo in December 1999.
Since 1994, Japan has committed a total of 12 billion yen (around 113 million dollars) to Jordan in the form of non-project aid aimed at helping Jordan's balance of payments and at promoting its economy – AMMAN (AFP)
