Against a backdrop of rising tension in the latest Palestinian uprising against 34 years of military occupation, the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli fire has risen to six since Sunday night, said reports.

The latest was Yahya Abu Abed, 35, a farmer who was killed by Israeli tank fire in Jenin on Monday morning, while he was on his way to work on his farm.

Reports said that he was sacred and ran away when he saw occupation forces, who shot him dead on the spot.

Five other Palestinians were killed in two separate incidents in the West Bank.

Israeli military sources were quoted as saying that a group of Palestinians opened fire on an Israeli patrol near Jenin. The soldiers returned fire and killed four of the attackers, they said.

And the occupation troops killed a member of the mainstream Fateh movement in Tulkarem.

He was identified as Mohammad Sunjuq, 19. No further details were available on the incident.

According to the Tel Aviv-based Haaretz newspaper, over 700 Palestinians have been killed in their 14-month uprising against 34 years of Israeli occupation, as against more than 200 Israeli casualties.

The paper said that between 8,500 and 10,000 Palestinians had been wounded, while the number for Israelis was put at more than 2,000 – Albawaba.com
