Three home-made rockets were fired at the southern Israeli town of Sderot and the northern Gaza Strip Wednesday morning. No injuries were reported. Islamic Jihad claimed this attack.
Palestinian fighters also opened fired on Israeli occupation troops operating in Beit Hanoun area of the Gaza Strip. The jeep the Israeli soldiers were traveling in was damaged.
Palestinians also shot at Israeli posts in the southern Gaza Strip and on the Gush Katif bloc of settlements.
Overnight Tuesday, there were exchanges of fire along the Israeli-Egyptian border between occupation forces and armed Palestinians.
Meanwhile, Israeli military sources have said that Tuesday's failed assassination attempt on one of Hamas political leaders, Dr. Abdel Aziz Rantissi has raised level of "hot warnings" over possible Palestinian retaliatory operations. Hamas leaders has vowed to avenge the assassination attempt.
On Wednesday, the Israeli security forces were preparing for a new wave of attacks by Hamas and other groups. Israeli sources pointed out that at least 53 warnings had indicated that Palestinians were planning to head from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank into Israel's main cities.
The northern part of Israel was briefly put on high alert Wednesday morning after security forces received a warning of an imminent attack. (Albawaba.com)
