Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian Tuesday morning who opened fire on them at a checkpoint outside the West Bank city of Tulkarm, the Israeli army said. Palestinian security sources confirmed a 20-year-old man was killed by soldiers at a checkpoint between Tulkarem and Qalqiliya on Tuesday but they had no details of the incident.
Meanwhile, a recent public opinion poll carried out by the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion indicated that more than 57% of the Palestinians are opposed to ending the armed operations against Israel.
The poll, which covered 723 adults and has a margin of error of 3.6 %, also showed that 64% of the Palestinians support Yasser Arafat as opposed to 41.4% who support Prime Minister, Mahmoud Abbas. (Albawaba.com)
