Israeli planes roared over the Lebanese capital of Beirut and its suburbs in pre-dawn flights on Wednesday morning, dropping thousands of Arabic leaflets denouncing Hizbullah.
The leaflets read: "To the Lebanese citizens, who protects Lebanon? Who is lying to you? Who is sending your children to a battle they are not ready for? Who wishes the return of the destruction? Who is the tool in the hand of his Syrian and Iranian masters?" reportedly referring to Hizbullah.
The operation comes two days after some of the worst fighting on Lebanon's border with Israel in five years.
Lebanese security officials reported that the roar of jets could be heard over the city before dawn as the planes dropped the leaflets.
Meanwhile, Hizbullah supporters on Tuesday attended the funerals of four Hizbollah members killed on Monday during clashed with Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.
The group denied reports that Israeli warplanes had attacked the region on Tuesday, according to Reuters, saying instead that an explosion in the area was cause by an artillery shell from an aerial bombardment on Monday which failed to explode earlier.
