Israeli Gov't to Discuss 2002 Budget Next Sunday

The Israeli government will discuss the budget for the year 2002 on Sunday, reported Haaretz newspaper on Thursday.  

At the meeting, finance ministry heads will present the accomplishments and progress of the 2001 economy and will give preliminary reports and assessments regarding the coming year.  

According to a decision reached by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Finance Minister Silvan Shalom, the government will hold four long meetings during the months of July and August, said the paper.  

Some of the discussions will last for two straight days.  

The fifth and decisive meeting will be held in September.  

David Klein, the governor of the Bank of Israel, who is also the government’s economics advisor, will be present at all the meetings – Albawaba.com
