ALBAWABA- Lebanon’s Ministry of Health said one person was killed on Tuesday after an Israeli drone strike hit a vehicle on the main road between the towns of Markaba and Odaisseh in southern Lebanon.
State-run National News Agency (NNA) reported that the strike set the car ablaze, with video footage showing flames engulfing the vehicle as emergency crews responded. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. No details about the individual’s identity were immediately released.
Israeli army spokesperson confirmed the attack, stating that the Israeli army recently carried out a strike targeting a Hezbollah operative in the Sublan area of southern Lebanon.
Earlier the same day, however, the military said it had carried out separate operations in the nearby town of Taybeh, claiming to have killed a Hezbollah operative for violating ceasefire terms, including maintaining militant presence in restricted areas. Israel has said such strikes are aimed at preventing Hezbollah from rebuilding its military capabilities.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions along the Blue Line despite a U.S.-mediated ceasefire reached in November 2024, which ended more than a year of cross-border fighting that killed thousands and displaced over one million people.
Lebanese authorities say they have recorded more than 5,000 alleged Israeli ceasefire violations, while Israel accuses Hezbollah of more than 1,900 breaches, including rebuilding military infrastructure south of the Litani River.
