ALBAWABA- At least 90 Palestinians were killed and 222 others wounded in the past 24 hours as Israeli bombardment intensified across the Gaza Strip, the enclave’s health authorities announced Thursday.

Dozens remain trapped under rubble as ambulance and civil defense crews struggle to reach areas under heavy shelling.

The health sector warned that Gaza’s hospitals are on the brink of collapse, with medical staff facing grave difficulties reaching their workplaces due to ongoing strikes and threats near hospital grounds.

Officials urged international and human rights organizations to intervene urgently to protect medical teams and facilities.

In one incident, ten people were killed and several others suffocated after Israeli forces fired gas and smoke bombs into a school sheltering displaced families west of Gaza City.

Witnesses reported scenes of chaos as women and children choked on the smoke while others tried to remove the devices from inside the school.

The assault comes amid escalating Israeli attacks on shelters and residential areas in Gaza City, part of what observers say is a systematic campaign to empty the city and force residents southward.

Over the past weeks, Israel has leveled dozens of towers and hundreds of homes, while urging civilians to relocate to the overcrowded Mawasi area, where nearly a million displaced Palestinians live without basic services.

The strikes follow Israel’s announcement in September of an expanded ground operation in Gaza City, tied to a broader plan unveiled in August to gradually seize control of the Strip.
