Israeli forces shot and injured a Palestinian on the border with Gaza Strip on Thursday, the second time Israeli forces have opened fire since a truce was announced late last month. According to Reuters, an Israeli army spokeswoman said a number of Palestinians approached the Israeli-built border fence near the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahiya and started to sabotage it. "The force fired at one Palestinian and hit him in the leg," the spokeswoman said.
Palestinian medical sources said a 23-year-old man was moderately injured by Israeli gunfire. Israeli troops shot and wounded two Palestinians who approached the fence on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Hamas has recently prepared a list of leading Palestinian captives held in Israeli prisons that it will demand in a possible deal for the exchange of captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, Haaretz reported. So far, both sides have reached agreement through Egyptian mediation, over the framework of the deal.
The Tel Aviv-based newspaper claims that among those whose release Hamas intends to demand is Abbas Sayed, the mastermind of the bombing attack at the Park Hotel in Netanya over Passover in 2002, in which 29 Israelis were killed.
