ALBAWABA - The Israeli Army announced on Wednesday a new "counterterrorism" operation in the northern West Bank. In a post on X, the army said, "Overnight, the IDF, ISA, and Israel Border Police began operating as part of a broad counterterrorism operation in the area of northern Samaria."

According to the army, the operation will be carried out between the Israeli army and the internal security service (ISA).

The statement read, "IDF and ISA forces will not allow terrorism to take root in the area and are acting proactively to thwart it."

AFP reported that the military and the ISA used the Israeli biblical term for part of the West Bank in their joint statement.

Since the start of the Gaza war, Israeli troops or settlers have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians in the West Bank, according to an AFP tally based on Palestinian health ministry figures.
