On Saturday, Israeli troops returned to an olive grove in Lebanon that was the scene of a confrontation Friday, a Lebanese source told The (Lebanon) Daily Star.
UPI reports that a dozen well-armed soldiers accompanied by sniffer dogs performed some type of investigation among the olive trees near the village of Altaroun in the Bint Jbeil district, the security source said.
It was not clear what the Israelis were looking for in the grove, located on the Lebanese side of the so-called technical fence, which marks the Blue Line border between the two countries. Israeli drones had violated Lebanese airspace a few days ago.
The United Nations said Friday an Israeli patrol squared off at the grove Friday with a group of civilian olive pickers. The reason for the confrontation was not known but the Israelis were reported to have leveled their weapons at the farm workers.
Lebanese and U.N. forces responded to the standoff and restored order, the Daily Star said.
