Israel bombs Gaza Strip

The Israeli Air Force launched a number of air strikes at Gaza Strip targets early Tuesday after Islamic Jihad gunners there fired rockets at Israel Monday in what the movement said was an "initial response" to Israel's killing of one of their top commanders in the West Bank.

An Israeli gunship helicopter fired a missile at a building owned by the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanun, Palestinian sources said. The missile damaged the building but did not cause casualties.

Israel also launched a missile strike in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah. The attack moderately wounded a 65-year-old woman and a 4-month-old baby and lightly hurt three others, Palestinian health officials said.

In an earlier attack Monday, Israeli forces fired artillery shells on the northern Gaza Strip.
