Israeli Military Chief of Staff Dan Halutz announced on Tuesday that Israel would continue its policy of assassination of Palestinians. Halutz stated at a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon that the policy was one which brought results and therefore should be continued.
He added that future strikes would target members of the Islamic Jihad faction, according to Haaretz.
Israel's High Court of Justice is expected to renew deliberations regarding the legality of the practice of assassinations, which was raised by Israel's Public Committee against Torture.
Israeli Parliament member Ran Cohen demanded recently that Halutz order a halt to the use of artillery on populated areas due the risk of hurting innocent civilians in the process.
