ALBAWABA - Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi will be heading to the United States for an official visit in mid-July, according to a joint announcement by the Iraqi government and the US embassy in Baghdad on Tuesday.
AFP reported that U.S. President Donald Trump will host al-Zaidi at the White House next month.
The announcement comes amid U.S. envoy Tom Barrack's visit to Iraq. He arrived on Monday to inform al-Zaidi of Trump's support for his government.

Barrack will also discuss with the Iraqi PM "partnership on a new path toward a strong and mutually beneficial US-Iraqi relationship."
Al-Zaidi will visit the US capital at the invitation of Trump, accompanied by a high-level delegation including several ministers and government advisors, to participate in scheduled meetings with US officials. He is expected to hold a series of talks addressing a number of political, security, and economic issues of mutual interest.
This will be Ali al-Zaidi's first visit abroad since taking office in mid-May and pledging to restrict the weapons of groups close to Iran under American pressure.
