Iraq has agreed to return old swords and paintings belonging to the Kuwaiti ruling family, recently seized in Iraq, the Iraqi News Agency reported Sunday.
The restitution ceremony is expected to take place on Tuesday at the Umm Qasr office of the United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Observation Mission (UNIKOM) in southern Iraq, close to the border with Kuwait, a foreign ministry spokesman told the news agency.
He said, "Iraq and Kuwait have reached an agreement for the hand-over of the archives of the Kuwait museum and what Iraqi sides recently discovered" in the presence of a UN representative.
"Iraqi customs guards recently seized five swords of the Emir's Honor Guards, a painting and other objects belonging to the ruling family" in Kuwait, he detailed. (Albawaba.com)
