A majority of parliament members in Iran's parliament on Monday condemned United States President George W. Bush's State of the Union address as "interference" in Iran’s affairs, state radio reported.
"Iranian people will strongly defend and preserve the solid principles of the Islamic revolution, which are independence, freedom and the Islamic republic," said the statement, signed by 170 of the parliament's 293 members.
"Bush’s statement is interference in Iran's domestic affairs," it added.
The parliament members said Iran had registered, "many examples of US violations of democracy and support for authoritarian regimes, and now the United States is providing unconditional support to the Zionist regime for the most brutal atrocities and genocide against the Palestinians."
"US policy toward Iran will only result in the isolation of Washington," the statement added. (Albawaba.com)
