ALBAWABA - The British Maritime Trade Operations Center (UKMTO) said Thursday that twin explosions were reported by an oil tanker that was passing through the Strait of Hormuz, near the coast of Oman.
The UKMTO said that it had received a report of an incident 9 nautical miles southeast of the "Kumzar" area of Oman.
According to the report, the captain of the ship heard explosions while passing through the Strait of Hormuz and reported it.
UKMTO also said that the ship was not affected and the crew are in good health.

In addition, the authority called on all ships passing through the critical waterway to be careful and to report any suspicious activity to the centre.
According to IRNA, the Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's major energy transport corridors; about one-fifth of the world's oil consumption used to pass through this waterway before the Iranian Armed Forces closed it due to the war with the United States.
The incident comes as the London-based International Maritime Organization (IMO) has previously expressed concern about the security situation around the Strait of Hormuz.
