Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said on Sunday that British and French reactions to statement made by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at a press conference in Saudi Arabia do not conform with diplomatic norms.
President Ahmadinejad said at the press conference that Europe has victimized the entire region of the Middle East to compensate for the so-called Nazi holocaust and called on Europe to host an state of Israel on its soil instead of destroying a nation.
The European states protested these remarks and said that his statement cast doubt on holocaust without admitting that they have supported a human tragedy against Palestine in the past 50 years.
According to Irna, a reporter asked whether the propaganda campaign against the Iranian president aimed to cover up latest approval of International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva to recognize red crystal of Israel in the category of international emblems, Asefi said that what happened in Geneva is a setback to international law. He said that more than 90 countries including 27 regional states gave negative votes to the protocol and only one regional state abstained and that was the first time that a humanitarian protocol was approved by voting.
"From legal point of view, the situation is a setback to the protocol and Iran believes that 27 negative votes from 28 regional states indicated in what desperate situation the Zionist regime is now."
