Iran rules out suspension of uranium enrichment

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi on Sunday cautioned Europeans to be "realistic" and avoid presenting irrational proposals. "The proposal should officially recognize Iran's (nuclear) rights and guarantee ways to attain and restore them," he said, according to IRNA.

Asked whether Tehran would agree to suspend uranium enrichment for a limited period of time if the Europeans accepted Iran's two conditions, he said, "If they accept the two conditions, suspension of enrichment will not be in question any more."

French, German and British diplomats are scheduled to present new overtures to Iran within a few days.

Permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (Russia, China, Britain, France and the United States) along with Germany are set to hold a session in London on Friday to go over Europe's new initiatives on Iran.
