Iran intends to build a second international railway that would link Tehran with two local destinations before connecting to the Russian railway.

The first phase of Tehran-Caspian railway will link the capital of Iran with Rasht and Bandar Anzali and eventually with the Russian railway.

The head of the Majlis development commission was quoted by Iran’s official news agency (IRNA) as saying that the establishment of communication networks will directly contribute to economic development.

Mohsen Nariman told the agency that one of the ways by which Iran can attain economic development is to develop marine transportation, get the railway network nearer to the ports and make communication lines international – Albawaba.com
