Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on
Saturday pardoned 409 convicts, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).
The pardon was granted following an amnesty request by the Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi on the anniversary of Prophet Mohammed’s birthday last week, said IRNA.
A similar pardon was granted to a number of convicts late May to mark the anniversary of the liberation of the strategic southern Iranian port city of Khorramshahr in 1982 from Iraqi troops – Albawaba.com
