An advertisement for a "miracle" impotence cure depicting a man vying to raise the Tower of Pisa has left hard-liners in Tehran raging after it ran in the main official daily Iran over the weekend.

"The publication of this advertisement and especially the drawing are immoral acts", the arch-conservative Jomhouri-Eslami newspaper strongly complained on Sunday.

The paper asked how Iran, which is run by the official IRNA news agency, "dares to publish this depraved and immoral advertisement that is an attack on all modesty."

Saturday's ad by a health-ministry-approved drugs company claimed to offer a "miracle" treatment for impotence with a "98 percent success rate." The treatment was by a "brand new method" using a machine, it said without providing further detail. (Albawaba.com)
