Hotel in Germany collapses, 1 dead and several buried under rubble

ALBAWABA - A hotel in Frankfurt, Germany collapsed on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, for unknown reasons killing one individual and leaving eight buried under the rubble. 

According to AFP, a rescue team tried to free people trapped in the hotel after part of it collapsed. Moreover, only five out of 14 people managed to escape the collapse including a man, a child, and two women.

The incident in question occurred at around 11:00 PM in the town of Kroev, located in western Frankfurt, Germany.

Local police reported that those still trapped under the rubble "were seriously injured" after emergency services managed to get a hold of them. Additionally, a spokesperson said that the building can only be entered with utmost caution.

31 residents of the area were also evacuated with the addition of around 250 working staff who were working on-site. 

A report by Dutch media confirmed that among the people buried was a Dutch family of three from the Netherlands. The mother and child were rescued but the father remains buried.
