Hizbullah opposes US involvement in bombings probe

Lebanon's Hizbullah has criticised US involvement in the probe into a bombing that wounded a prominent journalist earlier this week.

"We have reservations on the American security interference because we don't trust them, given the partial US policies towards Lebanon and the Arab world," a Hizbullah official on Thursday was quoted as saying by As-Safir daily.

"We prefer Lebanon to turn to countries like Switzerland, Holland, Sweden and Norway, which have no political ambitions in the region and are impartial," said the unnamed leader.

Agents of the FBI joined Lebanese authorities on Wednesday in the hunt for those behind recent bombings in and around Beirut after Lebanon turned to the US for help seeking those responsible. The most recent of the politically motivated attacks targeted anchor woman May Chidiac last Sunday. Chidiac, who suffered severe burns and whose hand and leg were lost in the attack, worked for the one of the most prominent anti-Syrian media outlets in Lebanon.
