Hizbullah on Sunday denied allegations reported in The Washington Post daily that it was cooperating with Osama bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda network.
“There is no cooperation between Hizbullah and Al-Qaeda in any form, neither on a logistical level nor in field training,” said Sheikh Hassan Izzeddine, the head of Hizbullah’s information office.
“These accusations are propagated by US intelligence and their only aim is to mislead international public opinion so as to sway it against Hizbullah,” Izzeddine said in a telephone interview with The Daily Star.
Hizbullah official said that spreading accusations as such against his party came “in compliance with the Zionist enemy’s objectives.”
“These are unfounded allegations,” said Izzeddine. “Let them say whatever they want … They do not have proof for these claims.” (Albawaba.com)
