Hertz Jordan has joined forces with a national radio station to improve road safety awareness in the Kingdom, where road accidents are claiming two lives per day.

The new campaign, in conjunction with Sawt Al-Ghad, aims to target young motorists throughout 2006, and will use radio advertisements to deliver a series of practical tips on how to ensure the roads are a safe place for everyone.

Statistics released by the Jordan Traffic Institute indicate that road accidents in the Kingdom claim a child’s life every 27 hours, while a citizen is killed every 11 hours.

Najati Shakshir, General Manager of Hertz Jordan, said: “Accidents are on the increase in the Kingdom, rising by 14 per cent in 2004, and this is a very worrying trend.

“In teaming up with Sawt Al-Ghad we hope to reach as many drivers as possible with our drive safe messages, and ultimately make the roads much safer for everyone.

“There will be an emphasis on practical advice and the advertisements will advise drivers on such things as how to behave and what to do during emergencies, the correct use of mirrors and indicators , and ensuring the safety of infant passengers.”
