ALBAWABA - Following days of speculations, current us VP and presidential candidate Kamala Harris has named Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate.

Earlier on Monday, rumors were already spreading regarding who will Harris be choosing as her future VP, and a couple of names were on the table including Walz and Governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro. Shapiro's name was thrown around many times having people predicting that he would be Harris' first choice.

Walz, a former educator, is serving his second term as Minnesota governor and leads the Democratic Governors Association. He previously served in Congress for 12 years, representing a conservative-leaning rural district that, both before and during his time, was mostly Republican.

Prior to his nomination as Harris' running mate, Walz had been a vocal supporter of Joe Biden following his dismal debate performance, as demands for the president to abandon his reelection effort grew.

When Biden dropped out, Walz backed Harris the next day and has since established himself as a dependable, enthusiastic, and cutting supporter for the presumed Democratic nominee.
