Lebanon's Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri will start Saturday an official visit to Oman, during which he will hold talks with Sultan Qaboos and other senior officials, reported Kuwait's News Agency (KUNA).
Lebanon's ambassador to Muscat, Nazar Shams told the agency that Hariri's visit to the gulf country will be the first by a Lebanese high ranking official for 10 years.
Hariri will discuss with Sultan Qaboos ways of strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries, and current developments in the Middle East region, said the ambassador.
Shams said that the two sides signed agreements on encouraging investment, avoiding dual taxation and encouraging trade exchange during the next few years. "Oman and Lebanon are bound by good relations in all fields especially in trade and economy. Trade exchange had witnessed a noticeable increase during the past three years reaching more than 10 million dollars per year," he added.
According to KUNA, Hariri will also pay an official visit to France and Japan in February.
