Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri visited Islamabad Saturday to discuss the international campaign against terror with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf.

The meeting preceded the latter’s ban on several militant groups. Hariri conveyed his satisfaction with Musharraf’s declaration.

The two leaders also discussed Pakistan’s decision in principle to join the coalition against terror and humanitarian aid for Afghan refugees. Hariri called the Pakistani leader, “[A] friend to Lebanon and the Arabs.”

“Naturally, we spoke about the tension in the region and the steps taken by the Pakistani government and President Musharraf to combat terrorism,” Hariri said.

Hariri added, “We look to Pakistan as a very important Islamic country and we care about Pakistan and its people. We believe that all steps taken by the president and the government of Pakistan give very strong message to the world.”

He said that Pakistan and Lebanon had very strong relations and he had come here to Pakistan to exchange ideas about the prevailing situation in the region "because it also affects us."

“It was excellent interaction and we have total unanimity of views," President Musharraf said. (Albawaba.com)
