Oman, the hosting country for the GCC summit, invited UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to attend its 22nd session which is scheduled to take place in Muscat by the end of December.
Emirates’ official news agency (WAM) said that Oman’s President Sultan Qaboos bin Said sent the invitation letter to Sheikh Zayed with the visiting Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Meanwhile, French President Jacques Chirac has congratulated Sheikh Zayed on his re-election for another presidential term, WAM said.
In a message, Chirac said the new term underlined the confidence of the UAE Supreme Council in Sheikh Zayed as an ideal head of state. The French leader emphasized that Paris attached great significance to the UAE-French relations of friendship and mutual respect and trust – Albawaba.com
