French President Jacques Chirac met Tuesday with Oman’s Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues.

Following a meeting and working lunch, Sultan Qaboos told journalists that the viewpoints of both leaders were very close. "It was a very good meeting and I am happy to have been able to meet President Chirac here in Paris," the Omani leader said, according to KUNA

"We discussed a number of questions of common interest, for both of us and for our two countries, and questions concerning what is happening on the world scene at the present time," he added. "Our points of view are not identical but similar and I am happy about this, " Sultan Qaboos said.

Furthermore, the French and Omani leaders discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, especially the Palestinian cease-fire and the Israeli fledgling withdrawal from the occupied territories, the agency added. (Albawaba.com)
