A Yemeni air force Mi-17 helicopter crashed near the capital on Monday, killing two pilots, two airmen and a Jordanian officer on board, the defense ministry said.
The ministry said in a statement that two pilots and two Yemeni airmen as well as a Jordanian officer died in the accident.
A military source said earlier that the Soviet-built "military transport Mi-17 helicopter crashed in the Sabaha region, 40 kilometers (25 miles) west of Sanaa".
He said a "technical fault" caused the accident, without elaborating.
"The helicopter took off from Dailami airbase, 30 kilometers (18 miles) north of Sanaa, on a training mission," he said.
