Three Tunisians and a French national were killed when a Tunisian air force helicopter crashed while trying to evacuate two tourists injured in a car accident, the defense ministry said Wednesday.
The accident occurred Tuesday near Garaat Bouflija, in the south of Tunisia, the ministry said in a statement.
The Tunisians killed were the pilot and the mechanic of the helicopter, and an army male nurse. No details about the French national who was killed were immediately available.
A number of people injured in the crash, among them two French nationals, were evacuated to Tunis for treatment.
