ALBAWABA — Israeli media outlets reported that an armored military vehicle was targeted in eastern Gaza, killing one officer and wounding at least five Israeli troops, including many in severe condition.
The strike took place amid fierce fighting in the northern Gaza Strip between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian resistance militants. According to reports, an Israeli tank was struck by a guided missile after a Palestinian squad detonated an explosive device underneath it.
The injured were being evacuated to Israeli hospitals by Israeli military helicopters. Five additional troops were injured, and one officer was confirmed dead by the army.
As combat escalated on many fronts, powerful Israeli airstrikes simultaneously attacked several sites in northern Gaza. According to Palestinian reports, Israeli strikes struck a tract of land in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, that was providing refuge to displaced residents in southern Gaza.
Israeli media agencies reported a "serious security incident" in the Gaza Strip earlier on Saturday, although they did not immediately provide all the information.
Israel murdered 41 Palestinians on Saturday alone, according to Gaza's Health Ministry, bringing the 48-hour total to 92 dead and 219 wounded, many of them women and children.
