ALBAWABA - Popular fast food chain Burger King was recently accused by an Israeli individual in an action lawsuit of mislabeling its cheeseburgers as "kosher," and is expected to give thousands of meals to IDF soldiers as compensation.

The meal vouchers will cost the corporation a whopping 480,000 NIS (approximately $128,000) and can be redeemed by both religious and non-religious IDF soldiers at any of Burger King's "kosher" chains, as reported by Ynetnews.

This comes after a religious customer of Burger King filed a lawsuit back in 2022, claiming that they had eaten non-kosher food at one of its Israeli branches, specifically the Hod Hasharon branch. According to the complaint, the branch falsely presented its food as "kosher" at a mall's billboard despite losing its kosher certificate a year prior.

It's claimed that the sign was only removed after the customer filed the lawsuit. The customer claims that they were drawn to the sign, but upon taking the first bite, they noticed that they were eating real cheese, which is prohibited in the Torah.

According to the Torah, it's prohibited to mix cheese and meat. It's also claimed that it's forbidden to cook meat and milk together as well.

The vouchers will be available for one year, and will start getting distributed to IDF soldiers within 45 days upon the court's approval. The plaintiff will receive $2,560 as compensation, while his legal team will collect thousands of shekels in fees.
