FIVB Rules Egypt to Go to Sydney

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) announced Friday that Egypt would remain the winners of the riotous final of the Olympic African qualification tournament against Tunisia in Egypt assuring them of a place in the Sydney Olympics. 

Two Tunisian players judged to be responsible for the incidents have been suspended for six months by their respective governing body and the FIVB inflected a warning against Egypt for the deficiencies in the organization of the competition. 

Three places for the men and four for the women remain for the Games and will be determined at tournaments in July. 

Australia, Russia, Cuba, Italy, Korea, Yugoslavia, USA, Brazil and Egypt have already qualified on the men's side. 

On the women's side Australia, Cuba, Russia, Brazil, Peru, Germany, USA and Kenya have already booked their places for the tournament which kicks off in September -- LAUSANNE (AFP).
