A large fire raged Thursday noon in Jordan's state television headquarters and employees were evacuated, witnesses said.
Seven people had been trapped inside the building, but firemen rescued them and they were rushed to hospital, a witness said, according to AFP. Sources said two of them were in serious condition.
The blaze started at about 1:30 pm (1030 GMT) in the station's main building housing the principal studio and the offices of its managing director and television and radio programme chiefs.
Jordan's Prime Minister Ali Abu Ragheb and Information Minister Mohammad Adwan went to the scene as firemen battled the blaze, witnesses said.
"I heard someone shouting 'short-circuit in Studio 1' and we all began running as the fire spread through the building," an administrative employee told AFP.
Television went dead for about 90 minutes. (Albawaba.com)
