Fatah, Hamas agree to stop violent clashes

Leaders of Hamas and Fatah agreed Wednesday to form a permanent coordination committee that will actively work to contain the bloody incidents that occurred between the two factions earlier this week.

 

The two parties engaged in marathon deliberations called by the PA premier, Ismail Haneyya, in the wake of the events in Gaza Strip, till Wednesday dawn before issuing a joint statement to the effect.

 

In conclusion, leaders of the two factions approved a proposal suggesting stripping all law violators and culprits of any factional cover, and to stop trading accusations on media apparatuses. According to PIC, Haneyya said that the two factions would immediately issue orders to their followers to clear the streets of any military demonstrations so as to defuse tensions.

 

Armed clashes between the two factions following a series of mutual kidnapping had taken place over the past two days in Khan Younis and Gaza city killing three Palestinians, and wounding scores others.

 

Israeli raid

Meanwhile, six Palestinians, including two women and an ambulance driver, were wounded Wednesday in northern of Gaza Strip during an Israeli bombardment of residential areas, medical sources said.

 

According to WAFA, MOH reported that two women - Ibtisam Sawarka 55 and Nawal Sawarka 21, were wounded as Israeli artillery bombarded Beit Lahia town, northern Gaza Strip. It added that three other Palestinians were wounded in the same area in different time of Wednesday morning.
