ALBAWABA - Activists on the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was launched to break the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, announced that they heard explosions and saw several drones flying close to them off the coast of Greece on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Global Sumud Flotilla wrote in a statement that "several drones shot down unidentified objects, communications were disrupted, and explosions were heard from several boats." It maintained, "We are witnessing these psychological operations that aim to make us afraid, but we will stay strong and won't be scared."

Yasemin Acar, a German human rights activist who is on one of the Global Sumud Flotilla ships, said that five of the fleet's boats were targeted, despite the fact that we are not armed and we don't pose a danger.

"We have no weapons. We pose no threat to anyone," Acar said in an Instagram video, stressing that the flotilla was carrying "only humanitarian aid."

On Monday, Israel threatened that it would not allow the Global Sumud Flotilla from reaching the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry announced in a statement, "Israel will not allow the ships to enter an active combat zone, nor will it allow any breach of the legal maritime blockade." It also claimed that the Global Sumud Flotilla is run by 'Hamas'.

The ministry explained that the ships could dock in the port of Ashkelon, where aid could be transported to Gaza. It added, "If the flotilla's participants truly desire to deliver humanitarian aid and not serve Hamas, Israel calls on the ships to dock in the Ashkelon Marina and unload the aid there, where it will be quickly and in a coordinated manner transferred to the Gaza Strip."
