Emirates Telecommunications Corporation –Etisalat- has announced that prepaid ‘Wasel’ mobile users can now easily shift to the postpaid GSM system while retaining their SIM cards and their numbers. This service is being introduced for the benefit of those who wish to enter the monthly billing system. There is no charge for this conversion.

Mohammed Al Fahim, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Etisalat, said: ”We decided to launch this offer after market studies showed that many customers wish to upgrade to the postpaid GSM mobile services, which enables them to receive detailed monthly bills and negates the need for regular recharging. By allowing prepaid ‘Wasel’ users to upgrade without changing their number or the SIM card- which may include personal numbers and data- we are bringing our customers the freedom and ease of using their phone first and paying later.“

Al Fahim continued: “The shifting process from ‘Wasel’ to postpaid GSM will be easy and fast. The customer need only visit their nearest Etisalat Business Centre, and with the necessary documentation, will be immediately migrated to the postpaid system.”

Shifting to the postpaid GSM system enables the customers to avail of services such as receiving a detailed bill, signing up for the international roaming facility and many other features, including the free Etisalat Calling Card (ECC).

This service comes in response to customer demands, as many prepaid users wish to upgrade from the prepaid Wasel service to the more structured freedom of the postpaid service. Users who want to keep the contact number they currently use due to business and personal reasons will find this option especially beneficial. This offer represents Etisalat’s commitment to providing services to customers as and when they are ready to use them.
