Egypt's outlawed Muslim Brotherhood movement urged Arab and Islamic governments on Thursday to supply arms to Palestinian militant groups after a series of deadly Israeli re-occupations of West Bank towns, reported AFP.
"Arab and Islamic governments have declared that the Palestinian resistance groups are national liberation movements and have forcefully rejected Zionist attempts to brand them as terrorists," the brotherhood said in a statement.
"Now they must match words with deeds and supply the Palestinian Authority, resistance movements and people with weapons, money, food and medicine to help them liberate their land," the statement said.
The non-violent Egyptian movement, which is banned by the authorities but partly tolerated, bemoaned the "shameful Arab and Muslim impotence while Israel massacres the unarmed Palestinian people."
MUBARAK CONDEMNS PRO-ISRAEL LOBBY IN US
Meanwhile, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak slammed the US-based pro-Israel lobby of hindering efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
"They support Israel whatever, and this is impractical, for if you want Israel to live in peace as a state among the community of the Middle East, you cannot blindly support it," he added. "They must distinguish right from wrong and offer advice in the general interest," Mubarak stressed.
He added that "In this way, cooperation will take place with Israel and its neighbors once peace is achieved."
The president made the statement in an interview with the Lebanese Al Hawadith newspaper, which was also carried by Egyptian papers, including the state-owned English language Al Ahram weekly - Albawaba.com
