The president of the Egyptian Telecom Company, Akil Bashir, announced his company’s final decision to collect phone bills every three months as of the beginning of next year from all subscribers, the daily Al Gomhuria reported.
The new system will cancel the old mechanism of collecting the bills monthly based on the bills’ odd and even numbers.
“The company is still conducting special studies on the new call rates,” said Bashir indicating that this would be completed by the end of this year so that they would be put into effect at the beginning of next year.
Meanwhile, Bashir asserted that by December this year the design of the third network for the mobile services would be ready in preparation for tendering the project. The operation of the network will begin as scheduled in December 2002, said Bashir adding that a foreign company was contracted to lay the design.
The design will include all the economic and technical studies in addition to those related to the topography of the areas to be covered nationwide. Albawaba.com
