In a press statement Saturday evening, the Sudanese minister of information and communications, Mahdi Ibrahim, said the reports regarding the issue of Halaib border dispute with Egypt were aimed at creating discord and stir differences. According to Sudanese press reports, the minister said the ties between Khartoum and Cairo had reached "the level of integration for the development of the region."
He said the reports published by some newspapers on the issue of Halaib were "incorrect and baseless."
Meanwhile, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry has denied media reports regarding the summoning of the Sudanese ambassador on claims of stirring the issue of Halaib at the UN on behalf Sudan.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said the Sudanese ambassador was not in Cairo, but was in Sudan for some days now where he has gone to receive condolences at the death of his brother. (Albawaba.com)
