Official source disclosed that Egypt has singed with Iraq a contract worth E£100 million for exporting Egyptian food products to Iraq during the coming year, the Middle East reported Friday.
Adel El Shahawi, head of the Egyptian Food Industries holding company, was quoted by the weekly paper as saying that the contract, which is expected to be executed before the end of next January, has been sent to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in order to follow the necessary procedures for its approval from the Oil-for-Food committee of the UN.
The products slated for export will include 30,000 tons of ghee and 7,000 tons of detergents, as well as 6,000 tons of toilet soap, said El Shahawi.
He also stated that by implementing this transaction, the total exports of Egyptian food products to Iraq over the past four years wold reach E£1.3 billion, the paper said – Albawaba.com
